Team Defenders edged Team Grizzlies in an overtime thriller Game 3, 64-58 to wound up with the 2019 OpenText Basketball championship trophy Tuesday, June 4.

It was an intense and tight battle all throughout the rubber match, before the Defenders outscored their counterparts, 9-3 in the extra period to become champions of the tournament.

Mythical 5 member Jonel Matias led three double-digit scorers with his 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists. Matias also made three long-range shots in the contest.

Francis Fajardo backstopped Matias with 15 points while Sherwin Stillanopolous chipped in 13 markers.

Jaysonn Anzures, another Mythical 5 selection, had a game-high 23 points on an efficient 60% shooting from the floor.

But he failed to draw enough support as only Jonell Romano, who had 10 points, was the other double-figure finisher.

Matias (15.5 PPG, 11 RPG, 3.8 APG, 2 SPG) and Anzures (13 PPG, 7.8 RPG, 1.8 APG) were joined by Arthur Adriano of the Cavaliers (17.8 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 3.7 APG, 1.5 SPG), Sherwin Stillanopolous (13.2 PPG, 9.2 RPG), and League Most Valuable Player Jeffrey Mate of the Dragons (19.3 PPG, 8.7 RPG, 3.5 APG, 2.8 SPG).
