CJ Perez of Columbian Dyip was named March’s Rookie of the Month by the PBA Press Corps. Despite his team missing out of the playoffs, the former Lyceum cager still made waves on his way to winning the monthly award given by reporters covering the PBA.
Perez averaged 17.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists in March which led to the Dyip staying in contention for a playoff berth during that month. However, Columbian was eliminated after bowing to TNT, 101-98, in the final game of the eliminations.
The Dyip went 1-3 in March but that didn’t stop Perez from bagging the monthly rookie award, his second time he won the distinction.
Although the performance is not part of the games to determine the Rookie of the Month plum, Perez was still impressive to end the month after he bagged the MVP in the Rookies and Sophomores versus Juniors match during All-Star Week in Calasiao, Pangasinan.
Perez won over Robert Bolick of NorthPort, 8-6, with MJ Ayaay of Alaska getting one vote.
