In her introduction for Ces Molina, Aby Marano went "In (Molina's) seven years (in the PSL), she only has six championships." Ironically, Aby Marano was also a teammate of Molina's in one of those championship runs Molina had with the Petron Blaze Spikers in the Philippine SuperLiga (PSL).
Last Saturday's seventh episode of "Usapang PSL" marked the return of "Tyang" Aby Marano as the full-time host of pinoyliga.com's webcast exclusively made for PSL fans and it featured the players of the Petron Blaze Spikers led by Ces Molina, Rebecca Rivera, and Rica Rivera. One of the questions that Marano asked Molina, in particular, was "What was the most memorable (among her six championships)?"
Molina replied "I entered Petron in 2014 but the most memorable for me was the 2015 All-Filipino conference where we went unbeaten."
It was a memorable one not just for Petron but for the PSL community as a whole as that marked the first time in PSL history that a team went an entire conference without losing a beat. In those 13 matches, the Spikers only lost in seven sets. They just breezed through their opponents in the playoffs that conference- sweeping the Philips Gold Lady Slammers in the semifinals before beating the Shopinas.com Lady Clickers in the finals.
It was also an award-winning conference for Petron as not only did they clinch their second straight championship in the PSL, some of the key players also took home awards led by Rachel Anne Daquis who was named the Most Valuable Player for that conference. Dindin Santiago-Manabat took home the Best First Middle Blocker award while Marano made it a 1-2 finish as she nabbed the Best Second Middle Blocker plum. Jennylyn Reyes also grabbed the Best Libero award to complete the cast of awardees for Petron that conference.
A memorable one indeed for Molina and Marano.
