BROTHERHOOD BUILT THROUGH BASKETBALL: PDC 2019 TOURNAMENT OPENS

There are many ways to create a strong bond among the hundreds of employees at any company's helm. Do team buildings, set a fun training system, or spark a friendly culture around the office. But for PDC Manila, they already know what fuels their people to perform better and work in tremendous harmony: play Basketball.

The hardworking gentlemen, who spends countless hours in perfecting their craft, are now rewarded with their first major Basketball tournament that opened last May 31, 2019 (Friday) at the Upper Deck Lifestyle Center in Ortigas Pasig City.

Powered by Kings of the Court|STR8, six (6) teams banner the 2019 PDC Basketball Tournament, led by Team Hardrock, Team Humble, Team Killer Whales, Team Ronel, Team Snappers, and Team Sub-Con.

Team Hardrock is first to pull-off a victory, led by Dayawon's 11 points and 10 rebounds, along with Salvador's 15 points and five boards in a 50-33 win over Team Snappers.

Team Humble connected on key baskets in the end game, powered by their reliable backcourt tandem in Bautista (16pts, 8rebs) and Macapal (7pts, 3 ast, 2stls), while man in the middle - Baltazar collected 13 rebounds and seven markers, on their way to a grind out 48-42 win over Team Ronel.

Team Killer Whales mauled their foes, 44-37 in the third and final game of the season opener, using a collective effort on offense and defense, to whether an attempted fourth quarter comeback from Team Subcon.

Teams will play against all their five (5) opponents in a classic single-round robin format. The top 4 teams will advance to the knockout semifinals and the winners from the final four, will advance to the best-of-three championship series, where we will witness an inaugural champion for this tournament.

Over the last three years, PDC Manila has been one of the perennial contenders in the Inter Steel Detailing Company (ISDC) Basketball League, and even won the inaugural title in its first campaign in the said tourney. What made their run to the title that year, was the evident chemistry on and off the court. The unselfishness and team work inside the office, has always translated once they hit the hardwood.

Now, we're about to witness the origin of their successful Basketball program, through this sporting event which was made possible by their passion for the sport, dedication for their job, and above all - finding ways to improve their health in order to exceptionally perform whatever task is ahead.
