Beat the Boredom and Show Your Game: The "Pakitang Gilas" Home Edition Challenge

Many basketball fans nowadays are bored at home due to the ongoing enhanced community quarantine period that the national government has the Luzon placed under due to the 2019 Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19). In effect, nobody can go out unless it's extremely necessary which makes many people do things that they don't usually do on a normal basis. For one, some have dived into the world of TikTok and for some, they found solace through Netflix. But what if we tell you that you can use your social media account and actually have a chance to win exciting prizes such as an iPhone X?

Yep, you read it right.

In "Pakitang Gilas" Home Edition Challenge, contestants can simply take a video of themselves doing their everyday exercise regimen. It can include one making a jump shot, a James Harden-ish step-back jumper or an acrobatic lay-up. The video must not be shorter than 30 seconds and not longer than a minute. Once you've shot your video, you can submit it by uploading the video on your Facebook and Instagram accounts with the hashtags "#PakitangGilasAtHome" and "#StaySmart". Oh, and don't forget to tag Pinoyliga and Smart Sports on your post.  

The judges? They are all big names in Philippine sports. 

The judges include Larry Fonacier of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Road Warriors. Also judging the submitted videos are Ateneo Head Coach Tab Baldwin, Kiefer and Thirdy Ravena, and the reigning Most Valuable Player in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Calvin Oftana of the San Beda Red Lions. Oftana, for his part, has posted his own entry which features his step-back jumper. Even SJ Belangel of the Ateneo Blue Eagles submitted a video of himself drilling that shot he was accustomed to, with a crumpled sock. 

The "Pakitang Gilas" Home Edition Challenge will run until May 15, 2020, and the beauty of it, you can submit as many entries as possible. So, don't just get glued down on your couch. Get up. Get smart.  Be creative. Stay in shape. Who knows? You might be one of the lucky ones to win an iPhone X among other exciting prizes.
