If the United States men's basketball team had the "Dream Team" which consisted of some of arguably the best players in the history of basketball, they also had the "Redeem Team".

Right now, the United States basketball team is the best national team in the world, according to the ranking provided by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) which was last updated last month. In fact, the US  has been ruling the world of basketball but there was a few instances in their existence where they weren't the superpower the world thought they were once. For instance, they never made it to the medal round of the 2002 FIBA Championship where they finished a distant sixth place. They also lost three games during the 2004 Olympics where they went home with a bronze medal. Not only that number of defeats stood as a record for the most number of defeats the US endured in a single year,  but also that was the year the US team was mired by withdrawals of the National Basketball Association (NBA) players. In the 2006 edition of the FIBA World Championship, the mighty US won its first seven games of the said tournament before faltering in the end as they only managed a bronze medal finish after losing to Greece in the semifinals.

That was when the 2008 Redeem Team came into the picture.

That team had one specific mission: to redeem the US brand of basketball

And that's exactly what Dwyane Wade is aiming to show as he is producing a documentary about everything that happened to the American team leading up to the 2008 Olympics which included how Kobe Bryant's presence changed the complexity of the team as a whole.

While there's no word yet as to when the said documentary will be released, fans can expect a lot of tear-jerking moments in the documentary as it featured the late and great Kobe Bryant. In fact, that was the same year when the Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Boston Celtics in the 2008 NBA Finals and that, the Black Mamba spearheaded the US' undefeated run in the 2008 Olympics that year which not only restored the American' status as the basketball kings but also, it laid down the groundwork that current US teams are keeping intact.

What will make the said documentary extra special is the fact that Dwyane Wade is among those who suited up in 2008 and was the team's leading scorer in that run. If anything, we should be prepared with boxes of tissues once the documentary is ready to be released.
