Alaska beats Columbian to open Commissioner s Cup on a winning note

The Alaska Aces beat the Columbian Dyip, 111-98, last May 19 in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Aces turned the game into a rout after outscoring the Dyip, 34-13, in the third period. Chris Daniels topscored for the Aces with 25 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, as Chris Banchero also contributed with 20 points for Alaska. Simon Enciso also had a big game when he tallied 11 of his 19 points in the third.

Alaska coach Alex Compton said during the postgame: “I didn’t do anything magical. They just came out of the third quarter and they decided to buckle down. I’m proud of their third quarter.”

The Aces will have a busy schedule coming up as they play NorthPort Batang Pier on May 22 at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

Columbian import Kyle Barone scored 30 points and grabbed 22 rebounds for the Dyip but in a losing cause. Rookie CJ Perez had 19 points and 6 rebounds.
