AFTERSHOCK WINS TWICE IN A ROW, ROLLING PAST THE JRU TUESDAYS

Together with their size and strategic approach defensively, Aftershock pulled away in the final four minutes of the final quarter, and held the young core of JRU-Tuesday to just four points and have a statement victory, 72-54, Sunday afternoon at Dumlao gym Mandaluyong.

After seeing their opponent shifted to a man-to-man defense, Aftershock quickly utilized their big at the post, and finished the game with a 14-4 run with an array of inside baskets.

Lorenzo Gorriceta started their decisive rally with a post hook at 3:32 in the fourth, and Luigi’s jumper at 1:57 stopped JRU’s hope to comeback in this game.

The Gorriceta brothers had ten points a piece, while Luigi had ten boards and Lorenzo grabbed six.

Ed Dela Torre scorched his defender with 28 points, eight rebounds, and showing off his vision with five assists. He also made some defensive awareness as he clogged the passing lanes with four steals.

This is Aftershock's second win in a row, and currently at number two spot in the Kings of the Court | STR8 Inter Pick-Up Division 2019.

Meanwhile, JRU-Tuesdays dropped their second consecutive game, and at sixth place as of the moment with 1-2 slate.

Peter Enanod lifted JRU’s offense with ten points, and grabbed seven rebounds, but unable to pull off an upset as he was intimidated by Aftershock’s big men in the second half.

PJ Guillermo added nine points, Jomar Bermudez chipped in eight, while Joshua Lamayo only had four markers thus getting ten rebounds.

JRU stood their ground after the tip by running the floor as much as they could, however Aftershock got their act together, slowly dominating the offensive boards for second chance opportunities, they went to the next period up by six, 20-14.

In the second, this time JRU kept the game close by their mid range jumpers and surprisingly beat Aftershock on offensive rebounding this quarter.

Though,  Coach Prince decided to reinsert Dela Torre at 1:15 mark and quickly made his presence with a three-point play, creating his own seven to nothing spurt , increasing their five point cushion into a nine point margin entering halftime, 34-25.

Aftershock tried to dominate in the paint as early as the third quarter, but JRU’s zone defense made them harder to put the ball inside for an easy two, still they are on the upper hand after three quarters, 46-39.
