Abarrientos explodes in the fourth as Alveo Sales shoots Factset down

JC Abarrientos went on fire from beyond the arc in the fourth quarter, knocking down all of his seven attempts from the three-point territory, to help Alveo Sales erase 17-point deficit and march to 84-77 come from behind win against gritty Factset in the Corporate Recreational Division of Kings of the Court / STR8 Philippines 2019 Invitiational.

After a quiet first three quarters, Abarrientos has felt sense of urgency in the final frame when Factset managed to keep a huge lead. He took over of Alveo Sales' offense and became unstoppable as he scored 23 of his 30 points in the said period. They exploded for a 28-6 run to get their first win of the season.

Mark Hequibal exposed his athleticism in his 13-point performance, while April Manuel and Reychan Bernaldez combined for 17 markers.

Alveo Sales had a strong opening quarter as their big men stepped up, especially in the halfway mark where they rallied for an 11-2 run, to give the team a nine-point lead, 25-16.

Unfortunately, they failed to sustain the momentum in the second period as Factset suddenly erupted in the offensive end while holding off Alveo Sales to just four points. Factset carried a 13-point cushion to the second half, 42-29.

Bouncing back in the third quarter, Alveo Sales put extra work on defense and made sure to convert those stops into baskets as they came back to within two points with less than three minutes on the clock. However, Factset refused to let go the advantage, answering with 9-0 run to finish the third canto on positive note, 57-46.

Rein Gaitan continued his fiery attacks at the start of the fourth, leading Factset to hold their highest lead at 17 points. But that also woke up the sleeping winning attitude of Alveo Sales as Abarrientos found his rhythm from the three-point area and led his team in completing the comeback win.

Gaitan anchored Factset's offense with a team-high of 26 points, while Erwin Guevarras finished with 22 markers. Jonathan Dela Cruz and Cynrich Domingo gathered 10 points each as Factset suffered first defeat in two outings.
