The Philadelphia 76ers failed to end the series against the Washington Wizards in Game 4. The game ended 122-114 in favor of the Wizards.

Joel Embiid sustained a knee injury after a layup attempt in the 1st quarter of the game. Embiid could not return to the game, they could have entered the 2nd round if they had won Game 4.

It is not yet certain if Joel Embiid will be able to play in Game 5 due to his injury. 76ers' head coach Doc Rivers said Joel Embiid will have an MRI this coming Tuesday (Wednesday in the Philippines).

He was an MVP candidate who led the Sixers with 28.5 points and 10.6 rebounds during the regular season.

The Philadelphia 76ers were 10-11 without Joel Embiid this season. In their first three games this playoffs, he averaged a team-high 29.3 points per game.

Embiid has also suffered a knee injury this season which he missed three weeks for the 76ers. He also thought at that time that his season was over after sustaining the injury.

Doc Rivers also didn't know while in the middle of the game if Embiid's knee or back was injured, but he knew Embiid was out.

“I didn’t really check, I just knew he was out. I wasn’t even sure what it was, I think it was the knee or the back.” Rivers' statement regarding Joel Embiid's injury.
