4th Quarter Blast from MAPUA keeps San Beda Winless in Pinoyliga Cup

The Mapua Cardinals defeated the San Beda Red Lions 82-68 in the lone game of Pinoyliga Cup Collegiate Division Tuesday afternoon.

Clint Ecsamis with a back-to-back stellar performance has a double-double performance with 16 points and 12 rebounds, he also recorded 6 assists and 2 steals in the game.

The Mapua Cardinals took control of the game in the second period as they limited the Red Lions to single-digit scoring in that quarter.

At the 9:06 mark of the second, Ivan Cudiamat sinks a three to bring the lead to 11, SBU's Joshua Tangala swishes a back-to-back three at the 8:49 mark of the second quarter to cut the lead to a single digit.

The San Beda Red Lions tried to catch up in the third quarter, gaining a 1-point lead with 44 seconds left with an Alloso basket. Still, the Cardinals didn't give way to Beda to catch their momentum as Jasper Salenga made a basket at the buzzer getting back the lead to end the 3rd quarter.

Mapua University put the gas on the pedal and totally dominated in the final quarter, 26-11, and they did not let San Beda catch them up and ended the game with a 14-point lead.

The win gave MAPUA the solo second spot behind the number one and undefeated team UP Fighting Maroons.

Aside from Ecsamis, Cardinals' Jasper Salenga scored game-high 18 points and Jopet Soriano with 16 points and 5 rebounds

On the other side, Gab Cometa debuted and scored 16 points in 60% shooting while Aljay Alloso made the most of his limited minutes by scoring 15 points in 13 mins of play. Team A members Clifford Jopia and Yukien Andrada also played but only contributed 6 and 3 points respectively.
