2019 KOTC | STR8 Q2 Invitational Tournament Kicks Off

The 2019 Kings of the Court | STR8 Q2 Invitational cage wars opened its doors on Sunday at multiple venues, with 20 squads seeing action in three respective divisions.

In the Corporate Intermediate Division, SMDC-Moldex, Meralco, and Wells Fargo picked up victories to jumpstart their respective campaigns at the Reyes Gym.

SMDC-Moldex dominated OPTUM Global, 85-66, behind JC Sadim's double-double effort of 12 points and 11 rebounds. Jhester Rosales added 15 points.

Meanwhile, Wells Fargo edged Southern Cross, 59-57. Ramon Gatan had 9 points and 9 boards as his Wells Fargo crew out-assisted their counterparts, 16-7.

Meralco Energy made quick work of Center Functions, 69-42 as Mark Puspus dropped 18 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and a block.

Lopsided results highlighted the Corporate Recreational Division at The Upper Deck, with Factset, Prime Homes, and Centric IT all picking up victories.

Prime Homes dispatched DMCI, 86-66 as Eloy Bello and Alfred Asanza joined hands, scoring 22 and 19 points respectively. Asanza also grabbed 9 rebounds.

Centric IT's Team A easily beat their B squad, 69-30. Jay Delima had 20 points while Joseph Carlo Hermo notched a close triple-double of 10 points, 10 boards, and 7 dimes.

Terrence Teodosio poured in 28 big points as Factset fended off Uber, 65-58. Uber got to within 5 points in the final quarter but a 9-2 run closed out the game for Factset.

Erwin Guevarra backstopped Teodosio's effort with 13 points and 19 rebounds.

In the Inter-Pick Up Category, Peter Eranod came up big to lead JRU past Workwear, 79-62. Eranod finished with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Johann Param paced Workwear with 20 points.

Geno Anderson had an all-around outing of 13 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals to carry LSBC-Brotherhood to a close 77-70 win over Don Bosco. Brandon Espiras added 19 markers.

Tier One Born Ready picked up a close win over Aftershock Ronac Saturdays, 57-54. DJ Cuasay had an all-around display of 10 points, 11 boards, 7 assists, 5 steals, and 3 blocks, propelling his squad to victory.

Dumlao Thursdays completed the results, wounding up the Inter-Pick Up Division with a 68-66 nipping of Team Elivon.

Ronaldo Galon was the high-point man with 18 points and 12 boards while Issei Sugiyama contributed 14 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 steals.
