San Beda University had a mark in the 2019 PBA Draft last December 8 at Robinson's Place Manila, with three Red Lions being picked to the annual tradition of selecting the best in college and amateur basketball.
Leading the trio was combo guard Clint Doliguez, who was drafted sixth by Rain Or Shine in the regular selection that will set up a potential reunion with former teammate Javee Mocon who was also picked sixth overall last year.
In his final season in Mendiola, the transfer from Ateneo averaged 8.7 points and 4.6 rebounds per game while hitting 27% from beyond the arc.
Doliguez showed his two-way game as he was the second leading snatcher of the ball by averaging 1.2 steals per contest as he won two NCAA rings for the Red Lions.
Spot-up sniper AC Soberano got to 20th overall in the second round, as NLEX took him in the second round.
The Tarlac native hit 33% from beyond the arc in his NCAA swansong, averaging 6.4 points per contest as he won three titles with San Beda in which he started and ended his college career with a title loss to archrivals Letran.
Both Soberano and Doliguez played D-League basketball for Metropac Movers, which was bankrolled by Bedan alumnus Manny V. Pangilinan.
Lastly, Jeramer Cabanag was drafted in the fifth round in which NLEX selected him 43rd overall.
Currently, Cabanag plays in the MPBL for Gensan as he made his recent appearance in the D-League with Diliman College.
However, Yvan Ludovice who was part of the Super Six in 2012 that defeated Arellano in their season opener was one of the 22 undrafted prospects out of the 67 names in the hat. He now currently plays for the Davao Occidental Tigers in the MPBL.
