La Salle Green Hills orchestrated a stunning comeback to secure a hard-fought 76-65 victory against the Letran Squires in NCAA Season 102 Juniors' basketball at the Playtime FilOil EcoOil Centre.
Trailing by as much as 17 points, LSGH faced an uphill battle as Letran dominated the early stretches of the game, taking a 26-14 lead after the first quarter and maintaining control through the opening half.
A big part of the Greenies' second-half defensive resilience came down to staying composed and crashing the boards. Reflecting on their halftime adjustments,
Calo-oy shared, "Sinabi ni coach sa amin, ano, mas sipagan po namin 'yung rebounds tapos dapat 'yung mga guards namin dapat comfortable kami hindi 'yung mga bad shots.”
John Hizon and James Calo-oy spearheaded the offensive charge for La Salle Green Hills, finishing with 21 points apiece. Paul Pasinos added 14 points and 9 rebounds, while Julian Teodoro provided a massive spark off the bench with 9 points, including crucial perimeter shooting that fueled the fourth-quarter rally.
Despite the loss, Letran got strong contributions from Renz Someros, who tallied 12 points, and Mark Abellar, who added 10 points off the bench. Ethan Aguas also grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds to go with 6 points for the Squires, but LSGH's relentless second-half adjustments ultimately proved to be the difference.
