Arellano University came out blazing, opening their season and the game with a 10-0 run before dispatching San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 98-72, in NCAA Season 102 on Monday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.

The Chiefs kept the pressure on after the fast start, closing the first quarter with a 34-22 lead. Arellano then erupted for 27 points in the second period, turning the game into a runaway as it took a 61-36 lead into halftime.

T-Mc Ongotan powered the Chiefs with 23 points, six assists, and three steals, while Basti Valencia and Renzo Abiera supplied 12 points apiece.

San Sebastian attempted to claw its way back in the third, using a 14-6 burst to trim the deficit. The Stags’ push, however, failed to last as Arellano regained its footing and carried a 76-55 lead into the final quarter.

The Chiefs punished San Sebastian’s 27 turnovers for 29 points and received 45 points from their bench, further stretching the gap between the two sides.
